Winhere Brakes Prove Their Mettle at Sepang GT Opener

Winhere Harmony Racing scored a Silver Class victory at the 2026 GT World Challenge Asia opener at Sepang, with the team's racing brakes performing consistently under extreme heat.

Winhere Harmony Racing secured a Silver Class victory at the 2026 GT World Challenge Asia season opener at Sepang International Circuit on April 3–5. The No. 96 Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo, driven by Deng Yi and Liao Qishun, recovered from a Race 1 retirement to claim sixth overall and first in class during Race 2.

Highlights

  • Winhere Harmony Racing’s No. 96 entry claimed the Silver Class win and P6 overall in Race 2 at the Sepang season opener.
  • The team recovered from a Race 1 drivetrain failure caused by a first-lap incident.
  • Winhere’s racing brake products maintained consistent performance under extreme tropical heat conditions at the Malaysian circuit.
  • The result validates Winhere’s vertically integrated development cycle spanning R&D, testing, manufacturing, and motorsport application.

Race 1 Setback

Deng Yi and Liao Qishun qualified third and fourth in the Silver class. However, a first-lap incident in Race 1 caused drivetrain damage that forced the car into early retirement.

Race 2 Recovery

The team regrouped for Sunday’s second race. Liao Qishun ran a steady opening stint on used tires, maintaining competitive pace. Deng Yi then took over and executed multiple overtakes to climb through the field, finishing sixth overall and first in the Silver class.

Brake Performance Under Extreme Conditions

Winhere’s racing brake products maintained consistent stopping power throughout the weekend despite Sepang’s high-temperature environment. The brakes showed strong resistance to thermal fade, a critical factor on a circuit known for punishing brake systems. The company pointed to the result as further validation of its fully integrated product development cycle, which spans from initial R&D through testing, manufacturing, and real-world motorsport deployment.

Winhere Harmony Racing competes under a title sponsorship arrangement with Winhere Braking, with the team fielding Ferrari 296 GT3 machinery in the GT World Challenge Asia series since 2025. 51GT3 Deng Yi is also competing for SRO GT Academy points this season, with a fully funded ride at the 2027 CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa up for grabs for eligible Silver-rated drivers under 30.
