EBC Brakes Racing has launched the GPFAX D2, a new flagship track and race motorcycle brake pad the company says improves durability, feel, and torque consistency over its predecessor.

EBC Brakes Racing has introduced the GPFAX D2, a new flagship track and race motorcycle brake pad as an alternative to the company’s original GPFAX compound. According to EBC Brakes Racing — the motorsport division of EBC Brakes, which also offers a broader lineup of track and race braking components — GPFAX D2 is built for improved durability, enhanced feel, and more consistent torque output than its predecessor. The compound is available now in two part numbers covering a range of caliper fitments, with buyers directed to EBC’s dealer locator to find a retailer. The company says the update prioritizes consistency and predictability at the limit over chasing peak torque figures.

Built for Precision and Control

EBC Brakes Racing says GPFAX D2’s defining characteristic is torque linearity — a smooth, predictable relationship between lever input and braking force from initial application through maximum braking force. The company describes the response in three parts:

  • Low initial torque rise for improved modulation
  • Linear torque increase with pressure input
  • Stable performance regardless of speed or temperature

The company says the design means braking force scales proportionally with lever pressure, which it says gives riders confidence to brake later into a corner.

Progressive Feel Under Load

Rather than an aggressive, spiky initial bite, EBC designed GPFAX D2 to build braking force progressively through the stop. The company says that translates to a controlled, predictable feel that allows for precise adjustments mid-corner and under heavy load.

Reduced Wear Compared to the Predecessor

Durability was a design target alongside outright stopping performance. EBC reports that in back-to-back testing, GPFAX D2 showed significantly reduced wear rates compared to the earlier GPFAX pad, extending pad life without a stated tradeoff in braking performance, according to the company. That earlier compound has already seen competitive use, equipping racers such as British National Superstock competitor Max Symonds during a pre-season test at Jerez, Spain.

Validated Through Dyno Testing

EBC Brakes Racing says dyno testing produced clean, repeatable torque traces that stayed stable across varying pressures and temperatures, consistent with the compound’s design targets for track and race use.
