About Us

The BRAKE Report is the trade publication of record for braking systems, friction materials, and brake safety. We cover OEM and aftermarket braking technology, NHTSA brake-related recalls, commercial vehicle braking, motorsport brake development, and the regulatory landscape governing brake safety in the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Our audience. The BRAKE Report serves chassis engineers, friction materials specialists, aftermarket distributors, fleet safety managers, automotive investors, and the regulatory and standards community working in braking. Readers come to us for technical specificity, accurate recall reporting, and source-grounded coverage of the companies and people shaping the global braking industry.

Editorial standards. Every article on The BRAKE Report follows Hagman Media’s editorial guidelines for sourcing, accuracy, and attribution. Facts come from named sources — company releases, NHTSA filings, court documents, or interviews — and are documented in editorial notes before publication. We do not pad articles to hit a word count, we strip promotional language from narrative, and we preserve direct quotes verbatim. Corrections, when needed, are made transparently and dated.

Publisher and editor. The BRAKE Report is published by Hagman Media and edited by founder Brian Hagman. Brian has spent his career at the intersection of automotive trade publishing and the braking industry, with deep relationships across friction manufacturers, OEM brake engineering teams, and the NHTSA recall community.

Affiliation. The BRAKE Report is a Hagman Media publication, alongside The EV Report and Self Drive News. The three publications operate under shared editorial standards but are routed by primary technical substance — a brake-related recall on an electric vehicle, for example, runs on The BRAKE Report rather than The EV Report.
