Bruker Nano Surfaces & Metrology
Industry Partner
Bruker’s TriboLab HD enables cost-effective, rapid screening of new friction materials. This versatile, high-torque system bridges the gap between the drawing board and dynamometer testing by making repeatable brake friction, wear, and particle emissions studies possible in a laboratory setting.
Critical decisions can be made earlier in the brake material development process, with TriboLab HD’s in-lab ability to simulate SAE J2522 protocols and other standards that are then used to screen and rank new formulations. The tool offers the most force torque in a research testing system, the widest range of test capabilities, the most control over test parameters/conditions, and support for brake particle analysis. TriboLab HD helps engineers and manufacturers meet the development needs for standard and emerging brake materials.

Friction Materials Standards Institute
Industry Partner
Founded in 1948, the Friction Materials Standards Institute (FMSI) began as a trade association for North American automotive aftermarket friction manufacturers. Over the decades, it has developed a universal part numbering system for brake pads, shoes, discs, and clutch facings known as the FMSI® part number.
Membership is open to any manufacturer of friction products covered by the FMSI® and FMS® numbering systems. Distributors, retailers, and other industry participants may qualify for subscription.
From the factory floor to the service bay, a single, consistent FMSI® number serves as the industry’s common language, eliminating confusion and reducing costs across the entire supply chain.
While the core focus remains on-highway vehicles in North America, the FMSI® system now enjoys widespread global adoption and covers a broad range of vehicle types.
In July 2025, FMSI introduced a subscription service providing fee-based access to its electronic catalog and daily updates on new brake applications making it available to anyone on the planet.
Thanks to the cooperation of its members, the entire aftermarket benefits from these services at minimal shared cost.
FMSI®, FMS®, United By Brakes®, and Brake Weekend™ are registered trademarks of the Friction Materials Standards Institute.

PROCOTEX
Industry Partner
Procotex Corporation is the Belgian headquarter of a family owned business (four brothers Douchy) with daughter companies in Lithuania, Turkey and France.
The challenge of today is to develop a sustainable global economy: an economy that the planet is capable of supporting indefinitely. The previous and today’s generation were often blamed: “in meeting our needs, we are destroying the ability of future generations to meet theirs”. The second generation of the family behind Procotex is proud to acknowledge that their commitment to sustainable profitable growth also has to take into account the broader economic, environmental and social impact of our products and operations.
The products of Procotex are, from its origin, sustainable proven. Which fibre can be more sustainable than flax? A European local natural fibre: zero irrigation, zero ogm, source of carbone, zero waste, thermoregulating, light, bio degradable, generates biodiversity through rotation. Flax is the most ecological fibre existing. On the other side, by recycling other natural fibres, synthetic and technical fibres we are saving a huge amount of precious resources and energy consumption. Procotex emphasizes employee engagement because engaged employees tend to be more productive and loyal which is a valuable asset of our company.
Sustainable manufacturing requires an ongoing process of improvement, a process which we continue to pursue in the next years. The investment of a 1 MW photovoltaic electricity power station on the site of Dottignies (B) in 2017 delivers one third of its energy consumption and helps to increase the sustainable philosophy of the group.
Our goal: to be a top global company for sustainable fibres, to drive innovation in people’s lives and culture at a cheaper price than virgin (less sustainable) fibres.

We support the market using our extensive knowledge generated using our pilot plant and testing centre. Data using our Krauss machine and full-scale passenger car noise dynamometer allow us to understand the interaction between our fibres and other materials in the friction composite. We recently added emission measurement equipment to our dynamometer enabling us to measure brake wear emissions during dyno testing. Next to our fibres we also offer PROMAXON®-D, a versatile high quality synthetic calcium silicate which has a good synergy with our fibres in friction material formulations.
