Nearly Six Decades of F1 Braking Dominance
AP Racing’s F1 involvement dates to the late 1960s. The company’s first associated victory came at the 1967 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, with Jim Clark behind the wheel of a Lotus 49. In the 59 seasons since, the supplier has maintained a continuous presence across the grid.
Today, eight of F1’s eleven teams rely on AP Racing brake or clutch components. That level of penetration reflects the company’s sustained role as a primary supplier in the sport’s braking ecosystem.
Managing Director Reflects on the Achievement
David Hamblin, Managing Director of AP Racing, said: “This incredible landmark is a testament to the innovation, teamwork and expertise found at AP Racing, both now and over the past almost 60 years. We have consistently delivered world-class, high-tech racing products to some of the most demanding teams. The fast-paced world of Formula 1 constantly strives to shave thousands of a second off a lap time, so the team here at AP Racing can feel immense pride at reliably delivering excellence in our products, not just over the course of a lap, but for 59 seasons.”
Brembo Group Connection
AP Racing operates as part of the Brembo group. The company’s product portfolio spans brake discs, brake pads, clutch systems, pedal boxes, and air jack technologies for motorsport and high-performance applications.
