ZF Launches Recycled Brake Fluid for Automechanika 2026

ZF Aftermarket will debut TRW DOT 4 Brake Fluid ESP Recycled at Automechanika Frankfurt 2026, a fluid made with 60% post-consumer recycled material that the company says is a market first.

ZF Aftermarket will introduce TRW DOT 4 Brake Fluid ESP Recycled, a brake fluid made with 60% post-consumer recycled material, at Automechanika Frankfurt 2026. The company says it is the first to bring a recycled-content brake fluid to market, positioning the product as a sustainable alternative to conventional DOT 4 fluid for vehicles equipped with ESP and ABS. ZF Aftermarket will present the fluid alongside its broader technology portfolio at the show, with a press conference scheduled for September 8, 2026.

Highlights

  • TRW DOT 4 Brake Fluid ESP Recycled contains 60% post-consumer recycled material, calculated according to ISO 14021.
  • ZF Aftermarket says it is the first company to bring a brake fluid with recycled content to market.
  • The fluid is engineered to meet component-level compliance with ISO 4925 requirements, according to the company.
  • ZF Aftermarket’s press conference at Automechanika Frankfurt is scheduled for September 8, 2026, from 13:00 to 13:45 CEST.

A First-to-Market Recycled Brake Fluid

ZF Aftermarket says the new TRW DOT 4 Brake Fluid ESP Recycled is engineered to meet the same quality and safety standards as conventional brake fluid while incorporating recycled content, with component-level compliance benchmarked against ISO 4925 requirements. The company reports the launch reflects rising demand from workshops, distributors, and drivers for more sustainable aftermarket products.

“Workshops continue to face increasing levels of transformation with rising vehicle complexity and customer expectations for faster, more transparent service,” said Philippe Colpron, Head of ZF Aftermarket. “Our role is to make this transformation manageable. By combining digital tools, technical training, diagnostics and OE-based know-how, we help our partners increase their performance and deliver reliable service every day.”

Sustainability Push Extends Across ZF’s Braking Portfolio

The recycled brake fluid arrives as ZF Aftermarket has been building out testing and validation infrastructure tied to tightening emissions standards. The company recently commissioned an in-house brake particle emissions dynamometer in Spain to validate TRW-brand pads and discs against Euro 7 limits taking effect in November 2026. ZF Aftermarket will not be alone in pitching sustainability at Automechanika Frankfurt 2026 — Brembo is also bringing an expanded lower-emission fluid and pad lineup to the show, underscoring a broader industry shift toward recycled and copper-free braking materials.

Beyond braking, ZF Aftermarket said it will use the show to introduce an AI Voice Agent for its ZF [pro]Manager workshop software and a new High Voltage Battery Insights training program for its ZF [pro]Tech network, part of a broader push the company describes as helping workshop partners manage rising vehicle complexity. Colpron said the company aims to show “how ZF Aftermarket combines technical expertise, digital services and a strong product offering to create tangible value for our partners who keep mobility moving.”

ZF’s booth will be located in the Forum, Level 01, at Messe Frankfurt.
