DRiV now offers a complete Abex air disc brake system for heavy-duty applications, combining calipers, rotors and pads engineered to work together as a single wheel-end assembly. The company, a Tenneco business group that supplies aftermarket parts to the commercial truck and off-highway industries, framed the step as a response to the accelerating shift toward air disc brakes on heavy-duty vehicles. The Abex heavy-duty range now spans all three friction-system components, where it previously centered on rotors and pads.
A Complete System for a Shifting Market
Wider use of air disc brakes has changed how heavy-duty vehicles are designed, serviced and maintained. DRiV says it broadened the Abex offering to match current vehicle configurations and service expectations, moving from individual components to a full system meant to perform consistently across calipers, rotors and pads.
“Commercial vehicle technology is moving fast, and the acceleration of air disc brake adoption is a good example of that shift,” said Joseph Saoud, vice president and general manager, U.S. and Canada, DRiV. “By expanding the Abex® portfolio we’ve completed a full air disc brake system offering with calipers, rotors and pads giving fleets and technicians a more comprehensive solution backed by a brand they trust.”
The complete system covers:
- Wheel-end scope: calipers, rotors and pads engineered to work together as one system
- Application range: commercial truck and off-highway platforms
- Serviceability: components intended to streamline service and maintenance
The Calipers Completed the Set
The calipers were the final piece. DRiV added Abex air disc brake calipers on March 30, 2026, joining a rotor and pad portfolio that had supported heavy-duty fleets for years and closing out the three-component system.
Aftermarket Support as Adoption Grows
DRiV ties the expansion to its broader push in the commercial truck and off-highway segment, where part reliability, serviceability and availability bear directly on fleet operations. By moving beyond individual components to a complete system, the company says it can help technicians and fleets consolidate sourcing and maintenance.
“Heavy-duty operators and fleets have no margin for error when it comes to braking,” said Rohit Choudhary, vice president, sales and product, commercial truck and off-highway, DRiV. “What they expect is that the brands they rely on evolve with the market while holding onto the fundamentals. As air disc brake systems become more prevalent across commercial vehicles, they need aftermarket support they can count on. Abex® has always been that source, and this expansion makes sure it stays that way.”
Abex has long supplied braking components built for demanding service environments, a focus the company says has held steady as heavy-duty platforms and brake designs have advanced.
