Brembo Returns as Mugello MotoGP Title Sponsor

Brembo returns as Mugello MotoGP title sponsor for the third consecutive year, supplying braking systems to every rider on the 2026 grid alongside Öhlins, AP Racing, and Marchesini components.

Brembo will serve as title sponsor of the MotoGP weekend at the Mugello Circuit from 29–31 May 2026, marking the Italian brake manufacturer’s third consecutive year in the role. The Bergamo-headquartered group will supply braking systems to every rider on the MotoGP grid for the eleventh consecutive year, with sister brands Öhlins, AP Racing, and Marchesini providing suspensions, engine clutches, and forged magnesium wheels across the paddock. Brembo has been the championship’s Braking Inspiration Partner since 2023. The announcement extends a Mugello sponsorship arrangement that ran for the second consecutive year in 2025.

Highlights

  • Third consecutive year as Mugello MotoGP title sponsor; eleventh straight season supplying braking systems to all teams.
  • San Donato braking event drops riders from 337 km/h to 94 km/h in just over 5 seconds.
  • Öhlins front forks and rear shocks integrate with Brembo brake systems across the MotoGP grid.
  • AP Racing supplies engine clutch systems; Marchesini supplies forged magnesium wheels.

A 50-Year MotoGP Foundation

Brembo’s involvement in the World Motorcycle Championship dates to 1976. The company says its position as title sponsor at Mugello reflects validation work conducted across five decades of top-level motorcycle racing.

“Being the Title Sponsor of the Mugello GP and supplying all MotoGP teams for the eleventh consecutive year confirms Brembo’s role as a technological benchmark in Motorsport,” said Matteo Tiraboschi, Executive Chairman of Brembo. “This role was built over 50 years of presence in the World Motorcycle Championship, which began in 1976, thanks to the trust of the best riders and teams that choose Brembo because our solutions are created and validated in the most extreme conditions, where performance, reliability, and innovation truly make the difference.”

Group Brands on the MotoGP Grid

The 2026 Mugello round will see four Brembo Group brands contributing components across the grid:

  • Brembo — braking systems for all MotoGP teams
  • Öhlins — front forks and rear shock absorbers, integrated with Brembo brake systems
  • AP Racing — engine clutch systems, drawing on the brand’s transmission work in the Motorcycle World Championship
  • Marchesini — forged magnesium wheels designed to enhance handling and stability

The company describes Öhlins as a cornerstone of suspension development within the group, with front fork and rear shock absorber technologies developed alongside Brembo brake systems on track.

What Makes San Donato a Brake Test?

The Mugello Circuit stretches 5,245 meters through the Tuscan hills, with a long main straight where MotoGP bikes exceed 350 km/h. According to Brembo, the most demanding braking event on the lap occurs at the end of that straight, at the San Donato corner.

Riders enter San Donato at 337 km/h and decelerate to 94 km/h in just over five seconds. Brembo says the event subjects braking systems to extremely high thermal and mechanical loads, making the Tuscan track a reference point for technologies developed at the highest levels of motorsport. Brake events at Mugello are limited in number across the lap but rank among the most demanding on the MotoGP calendar.
