Bendix Boosts Community Impact in 2024

In 2024, Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC significantly enhanced its community engagement, contributing over $1 million in grants and donations while its employees logged more than 11,260 volunteer hours. Based in Avon, Ohio, the company exceeded its goal of 10,000 volunteer hours, reflecting a strong commitment to supporting social cohesion, underserved youth, and families across North America. These efforts focused on four key areas: education, the environment, health and wellness, and social issues. Through a combination of financial support and hands-on volunteering, Bendix made a meaningful difference in the communities near its facilities.

Key Highlights:

  • Financial Contributions: Bendix and its charitable arm, Knorr-Bremse Global Care North America Inc. (KBGCNA), together provided $1,066,500 in 2024. This included $432,000 from Bendix in grants, donations, and employee incentives, plus $634,000 from KBGCNA for long-term community projects.
  • Volunteer Efforts: Employees contributed over 11,260 hours, a 20% increase from the prior year. Activities ranged from STEM education events and environmental cleanups to building homes with Habitat for Humanity.
  • Employee-Led Programs: The Get Involved! initiative awarded $148,000 in grants for employee-driven projects, while the Dollars for Doers program offered incentives up to $500 per employee for volunteering, which they could donate to nonprofits.

Bendix’s Local Care teams were instrumental, organizing events and distributing $202,000 to nonprofits near facilities in Acuña, Mexico; Avon, Ohio; Bowling Green, Kentucky; and Huntington, Indiana. Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) also played a role, with efforts like the EnAbles group’s Rock Your Socks fundraiser and the Bendix Patriots’ 9/11 meal-packing event. The Get Involved! program supported projects such as the Mexican Red Cross and GiGi’s Playhouse Cleveland, adding to a decade-long total of $1.29 million across 458 projects. Bendix further encouraged participation by offering up to 16 hours of paid volunteer time annually.

Maria Gutierrez, Bendix’s senior director of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), highlighted the team’s dedication: “Team Bendix went above and beyond in 2024, contributing both funds and direct support to those in need.” This comprehensive approach underscores Bendix’s commitment to community well-being.
