DFC Police Brake Pads Earn AMECA Conformity Listing

Dynamic Friction Company has completed AMECA Police Declaration of Conformity listings for its front and rear brake pads covering the 2020-2026 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor and the 2021-2026 Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) and Special Service Vehicle (SSV). The Carson, California, supplier says the pads cleared Link Engineering’s Police Laboratory Brake Evaluation Program, which uses original equipment police brake performance as its benchmark. AMECA — the Automotive Manufacturers Equipment Compliance Agency — serves as the independent registrar for the program.

DFC says the applications were developed to address high-temperature operation, repeated aggressive stops, heavy loads, and the maintenance demands of continuous police service. The listings extend the company’s DFC POLICE brake pad line, introduced for law enforcement fleets in 2024.

What the Police Brake Evaluation Measures

The laboratory program spans six evaluation areas. Emergency-driving cycles run under the EVOC protocol assess deceleration capability, structural integrity, temperature behavior, durability, and wear. SAE J2784 vehicle stopping performance testing evaluates loading, thermal history, kinetic energy, emergency braking, and failed-system conditions.

Noise behavior is characterized through SAE J2521 across cold operation, parking maneuvers, city and highway driving, and repeated severe heating. Friction consistency is measured under ISO 26867 across changing speeds, pressures, temperatures, braking histories, and severe fade schedules.

Two structural checks round out the program. Link Engineering’s USCT procedure compares friction-material wear with the OE police brake package, and SAE J840 measures the force required to separate the friction material from its backing plate. The same AMECA Police Declaration of Conformity program has been used by other aftermarket suppliers seeking pursuit-rated validation for Explorer applications.

How the Listing Supports Fleet Procurement

AMECA’s public product listing allows purchasing personnel and technical teams to confirm participating suppliers, qualifying applications, report numbers, listed products, and expiration dates. According to DFC, the declarations provide documented evaluation against OE performance for consistency, durability, wear, structural integrity, and severe-duty operation.

The company positions the pads within a broader Police Duty Program that also includes high-carbon brake rotors, severe-duty calipers, vehicle-specific friction formulations, and matched components.
