How Altec Identified the Problem
The condition surfaced during a Bendix programming audit conducted by Altec’s chassis team on June 25, 2026, which found completed vehicles that had not received the required Bendix programming after installation. Altec then opened an investigation to determine whether additional complete vehicles were affected.
That investigation identified the 55-unit population on August 10, 2026, the same day a potential field action investigation was opened to review the scope of the issue. Altec approved the field action on August 14, 2026, after reviewing the results.
No warranty claims or field reports were identified, and Altec reports no accidents, injuries, or deaths related to the condition.
Remedy and Owner Notification
Owners will be asked to present the affected unit for repair so Altec can update the Bendix collision mitigation system with revised parameters, then calibrate and test the system in its installed location. The remedy is classified as inspect, reimburse, repair, and software.
The repair is free of charge when the unit is presented, and the Altec Warranty Policy covers the recall remedy, including reimbursement for owners who paid for a pre-notification repair. Altec used its general reimbursement plan on file.
Because Altec does not operate a dealer network, the company issues recall letters directly to owners rather than through dealers. Interim owner notification is planned for October 16, 2026, with the remedy notification handled as a phased recall.
