AUMOVIO Supplies Brake and Safety Systems to Leapmotor

AUMOVIO equips Leapmotor's B and C platforms with advanced brake systems, long-range radar and airbag control units, cutting development time by one-third.

Technology and electronics company AUMOVIO is equipping multiple Leapmotor electric vehicle platforms with an array of advanced safety technologies. The partnership spans Leapmotor’s B and C vehicle platforms, delivering braking systems, long-range radar and airbag control units across several high-volume models. Development timelines were reduced by roughly one-third compared with traditional cycles.

Highlights

  • AUMOVIO’s MK C2 one box brake system is integrated into Leapmotor’s C platform SUVs, including the C10, C11 and C16, with nearly 5.5 million units produced since 2022.
  • Long-range radar with 280-meter detection range is deployed across multiple B and C platform models, building on AUMOVIO’s 25-plus years of radar expertise and 200 million radar sensors produced.
  • Airbag control units and crash satellite sensors are supplied for both platforms, including the B10 and B05 models that debuted at IAA 2025 in Munich.
  • AUMOVIO’s China footprint includes more than 30 years of local experience, 20 sites, approximately 10,000 employees and a 14 percent market revenue share in 2024.

MK C2 One Box Brake System Powers C Platform SUVs

AUMOVIO supplies its latest MK C2 one box brake system for several Leapmotor C platform models. The system combines the master cylinder, electronic brake system and brake booster into a single compact, lightweight unit. Originally designed for performance and sports applications, the system has scaled rapidly since entering production in 2022.

Production takes place in Shanghai, aligning with AUMOVIO’s “local-for-local” manufacturing strategy. The company also supplies its electric parking brake for select Leapmotor B platform models.

Long-Range Radar Delivers 280-Meter Detection

AUMOVIO’s latest-generation long-range radar is installed across the C10, C11 and C16 SUVs, along with additional models on both the B and C platforms. The sensor represents a significant upgrade over its predecessor in performance, cost efficiency and size.

Key radar specifications include:

  • Detection range: up to 280 meters
  • Form factor: approximately the size of two matchboxes
  • Heritage: more than 25 years of AUMOVIO radar development experience
  • Production milestone: 200 millionth radar sensor produced in 2025

ACU and Crash Sensors Complete Safety Package

AUMOVIO’s integrated airbag control unit and crash satellite sensors round out the safety technology suite. Both components are manufactured at the company’s Changchun facility.

The technologies are featured in the Leapmotor B10, which entered the European market at IAA 2025, and the B05, which premiered at the same event.

China Strategy Underpins Partnership

AUMOVIO’s established presence in China proved central to the collaboration. The company’s local-for-local approach combines rapid regional innovation with globally proven product quality.

“Safety is one of our core values, and we appreciate Leapmotor’s strong commitment to our safety solutions,” said Boris Mergell, head of the Safety and Motion business area at AUMOVIO. “Pairing ‘China speed’ with ‘German quality’ technologies helped us to support a rapid roll-out of multiple models equipped with our latest safety technologies.”

The strategy also positions AUMOVIO to support Chinese automakers seeking global expansion, leveraging the company’s worldwide market knowledge and supplier network.
