Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles research, based on a survey of 1,000 van drivers, shows the real-world impact of modern safety technologies. The new Transporter achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating thanks to its ADAS suite that includes autonomous emergency braking.

ADAS Delivers Measurable Safety Gains

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ latest research reveals that Advanced Driver Assistance Systems helped almost half (45%) of the UK’s van drivers avoid one or more accidents in 2025. The survey found that one in five (19%) avoided multiple accidents in the last twelve months thanks to modern safety assist technology.

Van drivers spend an average of 5.5 hours inside their vans on a typical working day. Reliable safety systems prove essential during these long periods.

Most Effective ADAS Technologies for Accident Prevention

Survey respondents who narrowly avoided an accident credited specific technologies. Parking sensors prevented accidents for 58% of respondents. Collision warning followed at 40%. Park assist came in at 32%. Speed assistance helped at 27%.

Lane assist supported 23% of cases. Autonomous emergency braking prevented incidents for 22%. Driver drowsiness monitoring assisted 15% of near misses.

New Transporter Achieves Top Euro NCAP Rating

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles offers a wide range of innovative driver assistance technology. The new Transporter comes fitted with rear parking sensors as standard. It also includes lane assist, driver alert system, and intelligent cruise control as standard.

The model is available with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system and radar-camera fusion technology. These features together saw the new Transporter receive a five-star rating from Euro NCAP.

Drivers Report Greater Confidence with Safety Systems

Three in four drivers (74%) report feeling safer on the roads as a result of ADAS technology. This confidence supports professionals who depend on their vehicles daily.

The survey data demonstrates clear benefits in real-world commercial van operations.
