ICER BRAKES Tackles Euro 7 Compliance

ICER BRAKES is taking proactive measures in anticipation of the Euro 7 Regulation, which introduces new emission limits for brake systems. The company is involved in various initiatives to stay ahead of these requirements and ensure its products meet the highest environmental standards.

  • Euro 7 Regulation extends emission limits to tires and brakes for the first time.
  • Aftermarket products are not immediately affected, but future inclusion is being considered by the EU.
  • ICER BRAKES participates in working groups analyzing the regulation’s impact on the aftermarket.
  • The company is developing new materials and testing methods to comply with Euro 7 standards.

The Euro 7 Regulation has been a significant topic in recent months, introducing substantial changes in emission reduction policies. For the first time, the regulation goes beyond combustion emissions and sets limits on particles generated by tires and braking systems. Euro 7 will take effect on November 29, 2026, for new passenger cars and vans, and from November 29, 2027, for existing models already in production.

While understanding the regulation is crucial, it is equally important to note that aftermarket products are not immediately affected. The Euro 7 standards will initially apply only to vehicles coming directly from manufacturers (OE). However, the European Union is exploring ways to extend these limits to aftermarket products in the future. In anticipation of this potential inclusion, ICER BRAKES is actively participating in working groups studying the regulation’s future implementation in the aftermarket.

Although it remains undecided how the Euro 7 Regulation will impact aftermarket products, ICER BRAKES assures that its products will remain fully compliant with the legislation.

“At ICER BRAKES, we stay up to date with the most demanding regulations such as Euro 7 and we remain committed to innovation and the development of sustainable solutions. Our goal is to anticipate and be prepared for future regulations, always ensuring products that meet the highest environmental standards,” the company highlights.

Thanks to its close relationship with the OE market, ICER BRAKES collaborates with several vehicle manufacturers and original equipment brake system suppliers. This collaboration allows the company to stay ahead of these requirements by taking steps to ensure its products are compliant.

ICER BRAKES is implementing numerous measures to monitor and study the Euro 7 Regulation and to develop a range of products that will help meet this regulation now and in the future.

Leading the Way

ICER BRAKES is taking many steps to ensure its customers are prepared when the regulations arrive. For example, the company is part of the emissions expert committee of the Federation of European Manufacturers of Friction Materials (FEMFM), a working group dedicated to analyzing the definition of the families that will affect the aftermarket.

Additionally, ICER BRAKES is involved in European projects such as NEEVE and Eureka, which focus on developing solutions to help comply with the regulation, including brake discs with different treatments and various friction materials.

The company is also developing its own PM10 particle measurement system in its testing bench. This system, along with the already-implemented WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) test, will enable the development of materials that meet the Euro 7 Regulation.

Moreover, ICER BRAKES is conducting an exhaustive process of several WLTP tests to understand the current state of its friction materials in terms of particle emissions and to study the development of any necessary solutions.

Commitment to Customers

ICER BRAKES is committed to being a reliable business partner for its customers: a company that is always a market leader, offering its distributors a differentiated range that allows them to compete with the highest quality products.
