AUMOVIO has completed the sale of its Mechelen, Belgium, manufacturing site to the Dumarey Group, transferring the plant and its approximately 300 employees while retaining the customer relationships for the products built there. The closing follows the intention AUMOVIO announced on April 20, 2026, and came after the company finished the information and consultation process with employee representatives. Mechelen has been one of AUMOVIO’s core European production sites for MK-series electronic brake systems, as The BRAKE Report reported when the deal was first disclosed.

How the Transition Will Work
Under the agreement, production of current components continues at Mechelen for a defined transition period, with Dumarey operating the plant as a contract manufacturer for AUMOVIO. During that window, Dumarey says it will progressively introduce new activities and products at the site, building on its existing manufacturing expertise. In parallel, AUMOVIO will gradually transfer the Mechelen production to other locations in its network.
AUMOVIO describes the sale as part of its strategy to optimize its global manufacturing footprint and align production with changing market conditions. It is the second European plant divestiture the company has closed this year, following the completed sale of its Rheinböllen brake caliper plant in July.
Why Dumarey Acquired the Site
The Dumarey Group, according to the release, pursued the acquisition to strengthen and expand its presence in the European market and add technical capabilities to its portfolio. The group operates a diversified, multi-industry business model and says it sees a strategic fit with Mechelen based on the site’s expertise, skilled workforce, and quality performance. Dumarey states it sees long-term potential in the acquisition and plans a structured collaboration with the Mechelen team through the transition phase.
