Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC’s Huntington, Indiana, operation joined forces with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Fort Wayne to build a home for a local family in need. Nearly 100 Bendix employees framed the house on August 8, 2024, in the parking lot of their main plant. The build marked the seventh year of Bendix’s involvement in supporting communities near its North American sites.

Key Highlights:

  • Bendix employees framed a house on-site, later transported for completion as a Habitat for Humanity home.
  • The company donated $15,000 in materials for the build.
  • This marks the 20th home supported by Bendix through Habitat for Humanity.
  • Bendix Huntington has been active in community engagement for over 40 years.
  • Since 2021, Bendix Huntington has provided nearly $300,000 in community support and over 4,000 volunteer hours.

The event was a testament to Bendix’s ongoing commitment to community involvement. The day’s activities were filled with the sounds of hammering and the voices of nearly 100 volunteers as they worked together to frame the house. A member of the family who will receive the home participated in the build, further highlighting the community spirit of the event. After completing the frame, the house was loaded and transported to its final location, where Bendix employees will have the opportunity to participate in the final build later this year.

In addition to their volunteer efforts, Bendix contributed $15,000 to cover the materials needed for the build. This initiative continues Bendix’s tradition of supporting local communities, having built 20 homes in North America to date. The Huntington location’s participation marked its second house framing event, following a successful inaugural build the previous summer.

Eric Meehan, Managing Director of Operations at Bendix Huntington, emphasized the importance of community engagement, stating, “Huntington is our home, and Bendix is enormously proud and grateful to be part of it.” He praised the Bendix team for their dedication and willingness to contribute to the community.

Since 2021, Bendix Huntington has provided nearly $300,000 in community support and over 4,000 volunteer hours.

Maria Gutierrez, Bendix Senior Director of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), highlighted the company’s commitment to social responsibility, noting, “The support and efforts of our employees are the heart of Bendix’s unwavering commitment to building communities and positively impacting our neighbors.”

Bendix’s efforts are coordinated through Local Care teams, which organize corporate-sponsored volunteer events and connect employees with opportunities to support their communities. As Meehan stated, “We’re serious about giving back and enriching the community. It’s the Bendix way.”
