Wilwood Engineering has released an Aero6-DM direct-mount front brake kit for 2024-2025 Toyota Tacoma 2WD and 4WD trucks, with MSRP starting at $2,035.08. The bolt-on kit pairs a forged aluminum six-piston Aerolite caliper with 13.38-inch by 1.26-inch vented rotors and is designed to clear most 17-inch and larger wheels. Wilwood catalogs the front kit under P/N 140-18381, covering both drivetrain configurations. The company says the kits were developed around ease of installation, reduced cost, and an upgrade path from the stock rotors and cast-iron calipers.

What Does Direct-Mount Change About Installation?
The Aero6-DM designation refers to Wilwood’s direct-mount architecture, in which the caliper body bolts to factory spindle and hub locations rather than to an intermediate bracket. On the Tacoma, the six-piston Aerolite calipers attach to the truck’s existing spindles and hubs, which Wilwood says simplifies the installation.
The system is built to work with the Tacoma’s factory master cylinder, ABS, and electronic controls. Stainless steel Flexlines and installation hardware are included with each kit.
Rotor and Pad Specifications
Rotors measure 13.38 inches in diameter by 1.26 inches thick. They are vented and e-coated, and Wilwood specifies a long-grain carbon iron alloy. Buyers select one of two rotor faces:
- GTB: slotted
- SRP: drilled and slotted
Kits ship with Wilwood’s BP-22 pads, a ceramic-based compound the company describes as formulated for street-performance, off-road, or towing use.
Thermal Capacity Aimed at Loaded Duty Cycles
Wilwood says the larger pads and vented rotors carry more thermal capacity than the factory hardware, allowing better heat dissipation under sustained load. The company is targeting highway, off-road, hauling, and overlanding applications, and states the kits deliver increased performance and repeatability with improved pedal feel.
