LEVERKUSEN, Germany – Newell & Wright Motorsport driver John Newell raced through the grid at the first British Truck Racing Association (BTRA) weekend at Donington, with Textar brakes proving the difference.
Textar braking enables Newell to brake later and stop quicker than other drivers, and this point was more than proven as Newell made up places in every Sunday race, culminating in a first-place finish in the final race.
“Textar brakes were definitely the difference,” Newell said. “I was able to out-brake the other drivers into the final corner and then carry enough speed through the straight to make up places.”

Textar Supported Truck to Begin Racing Again
Having consolidated fifth and fourth position on the first two Saturday races, Newell went on to move from sixth to second in Sunday’s first race, employing a classic out-braking maneuver. In Sunday’s second race, he moved from eighth to fourth, before moving from sixth to first in the final race of the day.
The racing, taking part in very different conditions due to the coronavirus pandemic, meant that all teams had to work with just four mechanics and a driver to get the trucks prepared for a five-race schedule August 22, 23 at Donington Park.
“It was a strange weekend with limited numbers, but the racing was very exciting,” added Newell. “Also, the additional exposure we received on television and internet platforms means we are able to showcase the benefits of Textar brakes to a wider audience.”
John Newell’s 5-ton MAN truck is fitted with Textar brake pads and discs and Textar is also a technical partner for the team.
