LEVERKUSEN, Germany – After a delayed start, the British Truck Racing Association (BTRA) Championship is set to kickstart on the weekend of August 22nd and 23rd at Donington Park, and Newell & Wright Motorsport are keen to get back in the driver’s seat, with the full support of TMD Friction through its Textar brand.

As part of the agreement, John Newell’s five-ton MAN truck will be fitted with Textar brake pads and discs as the team continues its close working relationship with Textar as a technical partner.

Textar braking enables Newell to brake later and stop quicker than other drivers, giving the driver a competitive edge.

With most teams having to change their pads over the course of the weekend, Textar’s last an entire weekend, which is over four races. Data gathered from its onboard telemetry system provides information from previous pad temperature readings so the team can calculate the accurate braking distances required for the upcoming race.

Over the weekend, there will be extra precautions in place in line with government advice to keep everyone safe, but visitors, if able to attend, can still expect a full racing program, show trucks, as well as a vast array of food and drink.

“It’s great to be back and we can’t wait to get back out there on the track,” said Newell. “Although it may be slightly different to what fans are used to, it’s going to be a very competitive season, which makes for more exciting racing for the drivers and spectators, and we’ve been putting in the work to ensure we’re fully prepared when the weekend comes.”
