Pro-Cut International has been named a featured equipment supplier within Ford Pro Elite Commercial Service Facilities, with its X1 HD On-Truck Brake Lathe deployed across the network to support brake service on medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. The placement covers Ford F-450 through F-750 applications and is positioned around reducing rotor replacement costs and vehicle downtime in commercial fleet repair.
Highlights
- X1 HD covers Ford F-450 through F-750 brake service inside the Ford Pro Elite Commercial Service network
- Lathe machines one axle in roughly 50 minutes using a 48V DC variable-speed motor with low-range gearbox
- Pro-Cut, a Snap-on brand, says service centers reach full ROI in approximately 20 axles
- Pro-Cut has earned the Ford Field Service Award every year the program has been issued
On-Vehicle Machining for Class 5 Through Class 7 Trucks
The Pro-Cut X1 is built around a 48V DC variable-speed motor, adjustable feed control and a low-range gearbox tuned for the torque requirements of larger rotors. According to Pro-Cut, the system can machine a single axle in about 50 minutes, which the company frames as a way to reduce downtime, extend rotor service life and limit technician strain associated with handling heavy replacement rotors.
The product fits Ford Pro’s stated focus on uptime for commercial customers. Ford Pro Elite Commercial Service Facilities are configured for dedicated truck and fleet repair work, with service bays sized to accommodate mobile service vans and vehicles as large as an F-750 bucket truck. By performing rotor work without removing the rotor from the vehicle, technicians can cut labor hours on a service category that historically requires significant lifting and disassembly on heavy-duty platforms.
Repair-Don’t-Replace Economics
Jeff Hastings, president of Pro-Cut, framed the placement around the company’s long-running commercial argument that machining outperforms replacement on cost and turnaround.
“Pro-Cut’s X1 HD On-Truck Lathe is designed for service and repair on Ford F-450 through F-750 vehicles, delivering precision on-truck rotor machining that aligns with Pro-Cut’s ‘repair, don’t replace’ strategy when it comes to brake rotors,” Hastings said. “Ford Pro is focused on maximizing vehicle uptime and the X1 HD helps service centers do exactly that. By machining rotors directly on the vehicle, technicians can complete jobs faster, reduce labor time and lower overall service costs.”
Hastings also cited a payback figure tied to commercial duty cycles. “Pro-Cut is a long-time partner of Ford, and Pro-Cut has earned the Ford Field Service Award each year it has been presented,” he said. “Ford Pro facilities utilizing the X1 are achieving full return on investment in approximately 20 axles, underscoring the X1’s value in high-volume commercial service environments. As Ford Pro expands its network of dedicated truck and fleet service centers, the Pro-Cut X1 HD On-Truck Brake Lathe has become essential equipment in these facilities.”
The X1 HD has previously been paired with a three-adaptor package covering Class 5 through Class 8 vehicles, and Pro-Cut has built out fleet ROI tooling aimed at commercial service operators evaluating in-house rotor resurfacing. The Ford Pro Elite designation extends that commercial positioning into a named OEM service program.
Pro-Cut International is based in West Lebanon, New Hampshire, and operates as a brand under Snap-on Incorporated.
