Wilwood Launches XRS Brake Kits for Chevy C10

Wilwood Disc Brakes has released XRS X-Bridge caliper brake kits for 1963–1987 Chevy C10 trucks, covering aluminum and steel ProSpindle fronts and a four-piston rear, starting at $1,699.25.

Wilwood Disc Brakes has released three pre-configured big brake kit groups for 1963–1987 Chevy C10 trucks built around its new XRS X-Bridge street caliper, with front kits starting at $1,699.25 and a rear kit at $2,714.00. The kits are among the first applications for the XRS caliper, which the company says is stronger and lighter than the Forged Narrow Superlite (FNSL) radial-mount caliper it replaces. Front kits are matched to Wilwood’s 2.50-inch drop aluminum or steel ProSpindles, and the rear kit bolts to the C10’s five-lug, 2.42-inch offset axle flange.

Highlights

  • Three C10 kit groups: XRS6R six-piston fronts for aluminum-hub ProSpindles and for steel ProSpindles, plus an XRS4R four-piston rear kit
  • Rotor sizes: 12.19, 13.06 and 14.00 inches on aluminum ProSpindle fronts; 13.06 and 14.00 inches on steel; 12.88 inches at the rear
  • Pricing: MSRP from $1,699.25 (aluminum ProSpindle front), $2,904.76 (steel ProSpindle front) and $2,714.00 (rear)
  • Fitment: Two front options each for 1963–1970 and 1971–1987 model years

What Is the XRS Caliper?

The XRS is Wilwood’s Next Evolution X-bridge street caliper, offered here in six-piston (XRS6R) front and four-piston (XRS4R) rear forms. According to the company, the forged billet design delivers consistent clamping force, improved pedal feel and enhanced durability for street-driven performance vehicles. Stainless steel pistons and a square O-ring seal design are intended to improve heat isolation and extend component life.

Calipers ship in gloss red or gloss black powder coat. Wilwood offers additional colors at extra charge.

Front Kits: Aluminum vs. Steel ProSpindle

Both front groups fit Wilwood’s 2.50-inch drop ProSpindles, offered for 1963–1970 and 1971–1987 trucks. The aluminum ProSpindle version uses hubs and steering arms integrated with the spindle and is the lower-cost entry point, with a 12.19-inch rotor option not offered on the steel kits. The steel ProSpindle version features a traditional bearing snout and integrated steering arm and starts at the 13.06-inch rotor.

The company previously offered a TX6R brake package for the C10 on the same ProSpindle platform.

Rear Kit Details

The rear kit pairs the XRS4R caliper with a 12.88-inch rotor cast with 48 curved internal vanes. The aluminum hat houses the included parking brake assembly, and the kit bolts directly to the stock five-lug rear with a 2.42-inch offset.

Rotors, Pads and Finishes

All three groups use Wilwood’s black E-coated Spec37 iron alloy rotors with curved internal vanes, available in GTB slotted or SRP drilled-and-slotted faces. Separate lightweight aluminum hats are designed to shed heat quickly. Every kit includes BP-10 street-performance brake pads, with other compounds available for most applications.

Wilwood has expanded its bolt-on kit coverage steadily this year, including front kits for Roadster Shop RSF-2 spindles in March.
