Passat Recalled in Australia for Brake Pedal Fault

CHULLORA, Australia — Volkswagen Group Australia Pty Ltd. has recalled certain 2021 model-year Volkswagen Passat models due to a potential issue with the vehicles’ brake pedal.

According to the Australian Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications website post concerning the Passat recall, the brake pedal may become loose from the brake servo due to a loose connection nut. Should this occur, the brake pedal will no longer function leading to a reduction in braking performance and vehicle handling.

A loss of braking performance will increase the risk of accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users, the agency added.

The agency is telling owners to contact their nearest authorized Volkswagen dealer to arrange repairs.
