Advanced Foundry and Machining Operations

The purpose-built 14,380m² plant integrates some of the most advanced foundry and machining technologies in the region. These systems have been carefully selected to ensure efficiency, safety, and quality at every stage of the manufacturing process, establishing the facility as the sixth foundry in MAT Foundry Group’s global network.

World-Class Foundry Equipment

At the heart of the foundry is a lineup of best-in-class equipment. ABP Induction supplied two energy-efficient induction furnaces featuring TWIN-POWER® technology, which reduces CO₂ emissions and enhances operational flexibility. An automated pouring unit from Pourtech minimizes waste and improves casting quality by maintaining constant metal levels.

For mold preparation, a Savelli automated sand mixer ensures consistent quality and reduces waste, while the Savelli Formimpress horizontal molding line operates at 120 molds per hour to deliver uniform and accurate molds. Handling and shakeout processes are managed by General Kinematics Vibra-Drum technology, which gently conditions castings while efficiently reclaiming sand. Finally, a heavy-duty Pangborn wire mesh shotblaster provides a superior surface finish.

Comprehensive Machining Capabilities

In addition to its foundry, MAT Foundry Mexico operates a fully equipped machining operation. The facility utilizes Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs) and Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) from leading brands like Doosan, DMC, Matec, AMS, and Scherer for precision machining of brake drums and discs. Robotic loading and unloading systems are integrated to ensure consistent quality and shorter cycle times.

Horizontal Machining Centers (HMCs) provide high throughput for complex components. Hofmann dynamic balancing systems guarantee the performance and safety of brake drums by reducing vibration. The facility also features automated paint and rust inhibitor systems, including ABB robotic paint cells, to protect components from corrosion. A clean environment is maintained by Camfil-Farr dust collection systems, supporting product quality and worker safety.

These significant investments provide several key advantages, including consistent, high-quality machining, higher productivity through automation, extended product life, and cleaner, more sustainable manufacturing. The successful launch of this facility is credited to the dedication and expertise of the team in Mexico, with support from colleagues across the global MAT Foundry Group.
