FAI Auto Parts Expands UK Braking Range to 1,200 Parts

FAI Auto Parts has expanded its UK aftermarket braking range to more than 1,200 part numbers covering roughly 34 million vehicles, adding a surcharge-free caliper programme with electric parking brake support.

FAI Auto Parts has expanded its UK aftermarket braking program to more than 1,200 part numbers covering roughly 34 million vehicles, or about 90 percent of the UK parc. According to the company, the line now spans brake discs, pads, calipers, and wear leads, building out what began as a selective offering into a complete program aimed at independent garages and motor factors. Additional product details are available on the FAI Auto Parts website.

Highlights

  • The expanded range exceeds 1,200 part numbers and covers roughly 34 million UK vehicles, equating to about 90 percent of the UK parc, according to FAI.
  • Brake discs carry a protective coating for easier installation and corrosion resistance; pads use a semi-metallic formulation designed to reduce copper content.
  • A new surcharge-free caliper program with a zinc coating covers applications for both conventional and electric parking brake systems.
  • The braking line sits alongside FAI’s existing steering and suspension, filtration, and control cable ranges.

From Selective Offering to Full Program

FAI has previously sold braking components, but the company describes the latest investment as a step change from a focused, selective offering to a full program covering discs, pads, calipers, and wear leads. The stated target is independent garages and motor factors handling routine service and MOT work on an aging UK vehicle parc. The 2024 launch covered 70 brake pads and 65 brake discs across 24 million UK vehicles; the current range exceeds 1,200 part numbers covering roughly 34 million vehicles, per the company.

Peter Garrett, Head of Product & Marketing at FAI Auto Parts, said: “The aim was never simply to create a large range for the sake of numbers. We wanted meaningful coverage that reflects the vehicles workshops are actually seeing every day. Cars are remaining in service longer than ever before, so demand for quality braking components continues to grow. Our programme has been developed to meet that demand with strong availability, OE-focused design and competitive value.”

Discs, Pads, and Calipers

FAI describes the engineering of the range as follows:

  • Brake discs: Protective coating intended to ease installation and resist corrosion.
  • Brake pads: Semi-metallic formulation, designed to reduce copper content without affecting braking performance, according to the company.
  • Calipers: A new surcharge-free program finished with a zinc coating, covering applications for conventional and electric parking brake systems.
  • Packaging: Pads are vacuum sealed; discs ship in cartons designed to withstand handling through the supply chain.

The caliper element is notable in an aftermarket context: surcharge-free programs eliminate the core return process distributors and workshops would otherwise manage, and EPB-capable calipers are an increasingly common requirement as electric parking brakes spread through the parc. Similar positioning has been used by other UK aftermarket entrants, including HELLA’s UK braking launch last year, which also bundled pads, discs, and surcharge-free calipers.

Aftermarket Positioning

Garrett added: “Quality and value had to go hand in hand. It’s a highly competitive sector, but workshops still want products they can trust and fit with confidence. That’s exactly what we’ve focused on delivering. We believe technicians will quickly place the braking range alongside our steering and suspension programme in terms of reliability and performance.”

The braking program sits alongside FAI’s existing steering and suspension offering and its newer filtration and control cable groups. The company says the strategy is centered on availability across the high-frequency repair categories most commonly linked to MOT work and general vehicle maintenance.
