Brembo Solutions has launched a free version of ALCHEMIX, the company’s AI-powered industrial formulation platform, opening the tool to R&D teams and small and mid-sized companies that were previously priced out of advanced formulation software. The announcement was made at AI Week in Milan, which Brembo describes as Europe’s largest artificial intelligence event. The free tier runs on Microsoft Azure and is available through the Microsoft Marketplace. Brembo Solutions, the digital arm of the Italian brake maker, first launched ALCHEMIX commercially in October 2025 through an expanded partnership with Microsoft Italy.
Highlights
- Free tier targets R&D teams and small to mid-sized companies across food and beverage, chemicals, textiles, rubber, and consumer goods
- Platform combines generative AI and machine learning to generate and analyze thousands of material and ingredient combinations in minutes
- Brembo cites industry estimates of more than 400,000 European industrial companies operating in sectors where formulation work is strategically important
- ALCHEMIX is already used inside Brembo to generate advanced material combinations for braking components
What ALCHEMIX Does
ALCHEMIX is positioned as an AI-driven formulator that compresses formulation cycles from months of physical testing to minutes of computational generation. The platform’s distinguishing approach is the combined use of generative AI and machine learning to produce and refine formulation candidates, according to Brembo.
The free version is available through Microsoft Marketplace and runs on Microsoft Azure infrastructure. Existing paid customers span food and beverage, textiles, rubber, and consumer goods, the company says.
Democratizing Industrial AI
Brembo Solutions framed the free release as an access-broadening move. Advanced simulation and AI-driven formulation tools have historically been the preserve of multinationals with large R&D budgets, and the free tier is intended to bring those capabilities to smaller engineering teams and innovative SMEs.
“We believe the next phase of Artificial Intelligence will be defined by its ability to make industrial innovation more accessible. With ALCHEMIX, we want to democratize access to advanced AI capabilities, enabling more companies and R&D teams to accelerate experimentation and transform the way products are developed,” said Mauro Madaschi, Brembo Chief Transformation Officer.
The company points to industry estimates of more than 400,000 industrial companies across Europe in sectors where formulation and materials development are strategically important — the addressable population the free tier is intended to reach.
Roots in Brake Material Development
ALCHEMIX originated in a project at the Brembo Inspiration Lab in Silicon Valley and was built by Brembo’s Data Science and AI Team. Brembo also operates a second Inspiration Lab in Shanghai, opened in 2025.
Inside Brembo, the platform is applied to generating advanced material combinations for braking components — a use case that gave the tool its initial training ground before it was repackaged as a multi-industry SaaS product.
