Koenigsegg has once again redefined automotive performance, reclaiming the 0–400–0 km/h world record for homologated road cars with its Jesko Absolut. On August 7, 2025, at Örebro airfield, factory test driver Markus Lundh achieved a remarkable time of 25.21 seconds, surpassing the previous record set by Koenigsegg in 2024. This achievement highlights the company’s relentless pursuit of engineering excellence and innovative software development.
Key Highlights
- Record Time: Jesko Absolut completed the 0–400–0 km/h run in 25.21 seconds, shaving over 2.5 seconds off the previous record of 27.83 seconds.
- 0–250–0 mph: Achieved in 25.67 seconds, showcasing the car’s exceptional acceleration and braking capabilities.
- Software Advancements: New “Absolut Overdrive” software enhances performance and will be available to customer vehicles.
- Challenging Conditions: The record was set on a drying tarmac post-rainfall, demonstrating the car’s advanced traction control.
- Verification: The run was validated using industry-standard Racelogic equipment, with data verified by Racelogic.
The Jesko Absolut’s performance is driven by its twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 engine, low drag coefficient, and sophisticated traction control systems. These features allowed the car to excel despite challenging conditions, solidifying its status as the fastest fully homologated production car in this test. The vehicle completed the 0–400 km/h sprint in 16.77 seconds and decelerated from 400–0 km/h in 8.44 seconds, showcasing its balanced acceleration and braking prowess.
Software Innovation Drives Success
The record-breaking run was made possible by new software strategies dubbed “Absolut Overdrive.” These upgrades, applied to the same Jesko Absolut used in the 2024 record, include tweaks to the Light Speed Transmission and Engine Management system, along with a new torque control system for enhanced grip management. According to Christian von Koenigsegg, Founder and CEO, these advancements reflect the synergy between the company’s engineering and development teams. The software improvements will be rolled out to all Jesko Absolut customer cars, ensuring owners benefit from the same cutting-edge technology.

Engineering Excellence in Action
Christian von Koenigsegg emphasized the significance of this achievement, noting that the Jesko Absolut’s performance with a combustion engine and rear-wheel drive outpaces even all-wheel-drive electric vehicles in a straight line. He described the result as “almost magical,” highlighting the innovative software architecture and class-leading mechanical solutions that made it possible. The teamwork and communication between Koenigsegg’s in-house drivetrain systems were critical to this success.
Verified Performance
The record run was conducted under rigorous conditions, with Racelogic equipment ensuring accurate measurements. The data was independently verified by Racelogic, cementing the credibility of the Jesko Absolut’s performance. The car’s ability to achieve such times on a drying track further underscores its engineering superiority.
A Milestone for Koenigsegg
This latest milestone reinforces Koenigsegg’s position as a leader in hypercar performance. The Jesko Absolut’s combination of power, aerodynamics, and advanced software sets a new benchmark for production cars. By continuously pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, Koenigsegg demonstrates that innovation and precision can rewrite the rules of automotive performance.
