EBC Details Super Ceramic Brake Pad Test Data

EBC Brakes will launch its Super Ceramic brake pad at SEMA 2026, publishing dyno test protocols and R90, FMVSS GG and SAE J2975 ratings for a low-dust, track-capable compound built on Nucap NRS backing plates.

EBC Brakes will launch its Super Ceramic brake pad at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, running November 3–6, 2026, at Booth #23353. The company published dyno test results and construction details for the compound this week, positioning Super Ceramic as a “Track Capable” ceramic pad while stating explicitly that it is not a full race pad. According to EBC’s own testing, the material delivers the lowest rotor abrasion, longest pad life and highest heat threshold among the ceramic compounds it compared against.

How EBC Tested the Compound From Cold

EBC ran a 30-stop street-use test designed to start the disc as cool as possible, equating to a disc temperature of 86°F (30°C). Brake pressure was removed each time the disc reached 158°F (70°C), after which the dyno cycled freely and the disc was allowed to cool before the next stop. The company also published a separate under-load test result, presented as a chart, though it did not release the underlying figures in text form.

How Does Super Ceramic Compare to Bluestuff?

The company says the range is targeted as its lowest-dusting pad generation while performing similar to or better than its Bluestuff range, a dual-purpose road and track compound. That claim frames the “track capable” positioning EBC first outlined when it announced the compound ahead of SEMA. EBC states the field it measured against includes at least eight other ceramic brands.

Construction and Bed-In

EBC lists the following features for the Super Ceramic range:

  • Noise control: Shimmed, chamfered and slotted construction
  • Surface preparation: Pre-scorched, with the EBC Brake-In coating applied
  • Bed-in procedure: 100 miles for the coating to work, then 100 miles of urban use to mate the pads to the rotor, with additional mileage if the disc surface is imperfect
  • Backing plates: Nucap NRS-equipped plates for bond strength
  • Composition: Zero steel fiber, which EBC says eliminates rotor scratching and metallic-content dust
