Effective July 1, the company acquired the Industrial Friction Materials division of TMD Friction Services GmbH, including the renowned COSID® brand. This move enhances INNO FRICTION’s product portfolio and strengthens its competitive edge in specialized industrial applications.

Acquisition Details
The acquisition, finalized on July 1, includes the transfer of TMD Friction’s Industrial Friction Materials division, based in Coswig, to INNO FRICTION’s headquarters in Hamm/Sieg. This includes all machinery, equipment, and the COSID® brand, known for its quality in friction linings. The transition ensures continuity for COSID®’s customers, who will now access INNO FRICTION’s extensive expertise in developing and manufacturing friction linings for over six decades.
Strengthening Market Position
This acquisition follows INNO FRICTION’s strategic growth initiatives, including a management buyout from the Schaeffler Group in 2019 and the establishment of INNO FRICTION Vellberg GmbH in 2024 after acquiring Rex Industrie-Produkte’s Friction and Sliding Materials division. “With this acquisition, we are expanding our market presence and strengthening our competitiveness by expanding our product portfolio,” said Frank Steinhauer, managing partner of INNO FRICTION GmbH.

Founded in 1962 in Hamm/Sieg, INNO FRICTION initially focused on passenger car clutch linings but has since expanded into industrial friction linings, plain bearings, and specialty automotive applications. The company’s offerings now include brake linings, dual clutch linings, friction linings for elevators and wind turbines, vibration dampers, and high-temperature-resistant conveyor rollers. INNO FRICTION also provides customer-specific development and testing, ensuring tailored solutions from concept to production.
