TOKYO – Akebono Brake Industry Co., Ltd. has announced that all of the four Japanese factories which lost its IATF 16949 certification earlier this year, has regained this status.
The company’s Akebono Brake Fukushima Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Akebono Brake Iwatsuki Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Akebono Brake Sanyo Manufacturing Co., Ltd. most recently had the certifications for IATF 16949 reinstated.
The reinstatements followed ongoing audits conducted by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Limited (LRQA), the certification organization which had compiled the audits which led to the initial findings.
IATF 16949 certification demonstrates that the company has met extensive requirements to create a process of continuous improvement with an emphasis on defect prevention and reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain.
Akebono’s announcement included the following message:
“This concludes the reinstatement of IATF 16949 certifications at all four of the Company’s manufacturing subsidiaries in Japan. The Company continues to make every effort towards reinstatement of ISO 9001 certifications at all four subsidiaries. The Company deeply apologizes to all its customers, suppliers, shareholders and other related parties for the great inconvenience and concern caused by this matter.”
