Ducati North America has issued a safety recall for select Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 motorcycles due to a wiring assembly error that could compromise the Antilock Braking System (ABS). The defect involves the potential reversal of fuses for the ABS pump and control unit, which increases the risk of wheel lockup during braking.
Highlights
- Affected Models: The recall impacts 1,016 units, specifically the 2025 Panigale V2 and the 2025-2026 Streetfighter V2.
- Safety Risk: Reversed fuses may blow during ABS activation, potentially causing the front or rear wheels to lock up and leading to loss of control.
- Remedy: Dealers will inspect and correct the fuse positioning free of charge, with owner notifications scheduled for late January 2026.
Technical Details of the Defect
The safety issue stems from a manufacturing error during the wiring harness assembly by the supplier, CTE TECH (Thailand) Co., Ltd.. The investigation revealed that the 25A fuse intended for the ABS pump and the 10A fuse for the ABS control unit—or their respective holders—may have been installed in reverse positions.
This configuration leaves the ABS pump circuit protected by a 10A fuse rather than the required 25A fuse. During prolonged braking events that trigger ABS intervention, the lower-amperage fuse is liable to blow. If the fuse fails, the ABS pump ceases to function, which can result in the front or rear wheel locking up.
If the fuse blows, the rider will receive immediate visual feedback. An “ABS error” message will remain permanently displayed on the dashboard, accompanied by the illumination of the ABS warning light, indicating the system is deactivated.
Affected Vehicle Population
The recall encompasses a total population of 1,016 motorcycles, with an estimated 1.2% believed to contain the defect. The specific models involved are:
- 2025 Ducati Panigale V2: Produced between February 4, 2025, and May 23, 2025 (644 potential units).
- 2025-2026 Ducati Streetfighter V2: Produced between March 31, 2025, and June 12, 2025 (372 potential units).
Chronology and Correction
Ducati first became aware of the issue on June 3, 2025, following a report from its global network. A rider reported that the ABS warning light illuminated during a braking event, followed by a rear wheel lockup that caused the motorcycle to drop. Subsequent analysis confirmed the fuses had been reversed on that specific unit.
Further checks of warehouse stock and production lines identified two additional assembly errors, and network monitoring revealed seven more cases globally. No incidents have been reported within the United States.
To prevent recurrence, the supplier implemented a new error-proof assembly process with enhanced quality control checks as of June 13, 2025. All motorcycles produced from that date onward have been verified for correct fuse positioning.
Recall Schedule and Remedy
Ducati North America notified dealers between December 15 and December 22, 2025. The manufacturer plans to notify affected owners by mail between January 26, 2026, and February 2, 2026.
Authorized dealers will inspect the positioning of the fuses and fuse holders and correct them if necessary. This service will be performed at no cost to the customer. Owners may contact Ducati customer service at 1-888-391-5446. The NHTSA campaign number for this recall is 25V838, and Ducati’s internal recall number is SRV-RCL-25-004.
