Introduction to NILU Hypercar
Nilu27, led by Sasha Selipanov, has officially unveiled its first vehicle, the NILU hypercar. The car aims to deliver a raw and engaging driving experience by steering clear of modern technological aids such as electrification and digital interfaces. Inspired by classic motorsports and design philosophies, the NILU hypercar features a distinctive and functional aesthetic.
Design and Engineering
The NILU hypercar’s design is a blend of eclectic inspirations, from ’60s F1 racers to avant-garde metal music. The exterior is characterized by clean, aerodynamic lines and an exposed engine bay, reflecting a Bauhaus-inspired “form follows function” philosophy. The chassis utilizes a bespoke carbon fiber monocoque combined with aluminum-alloy tubular subframes, enhancing both performance and mechanical aesthetics.
Interior and Controls
Inside the NILU hypercar, the focus is on analog, manual controls. The only screen in the cabin is for the rearview camera, addressing visibility issues typical of mid-engined sports cars. The steering wheel is free from buttons and switches, emphasizing a pure driving experience. The car features a seven-speed manual transmission with an open-gate design, enhancing the tactile driving experience.
Power and Performance
The NILU hypercar is powered by a naturally aspirated V12 engine developed by Hartley Engines in New Zealand. This 6.5-liter engine produces over 1000 horsepower, providing an exhilarating driving experience without relying on electrification. The engine’s design includes 12 individual throttle bodies and a unique “Hot V” configuration, optimizing performance and aesthetics.
Suspension and Braking
The NILU hypercar employs a double wishbone, pushrod suspension system, contributing to its precise handling characteristics. The car is equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, ensuring optimal grip and performance. Brembo‘s carbon-ceramic braking equipment, featuring GT | BM calipers and CCM-R Plus rotors, delivers exceptional braking performance and fade resistance.
Limited Production and Future Plans
Production of the NILU hypercar is limited to 15 units, with assembly taking place at the Aria Group in Irvine, CA. Nilu27 is also developing a street-legal variant, limited to 54 units. The hypercar will debut publicly at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and will feature in the mobile racing game CSR Racing 2.
Nilu27’s debut hypercar stands out for its focus on pure driving enjoyment, innovative design, and high-performance features, with Brembo brakes playing a crucial role in its exceptional braking performance.
