The company is highlighting six radar-based assistance systems, an integrated ABS system, and an innovative 2kW drive control unit for smaller electric two-wheelers. Bosch aims to improve safety, efficiency, and connectivity for all motorcycle segments.
Key Highlights:
- Six new radar-based assistance systems for enhanced safety and comfort.
- Introduction of ABSi, integrating ABS and inertial measurement units.
- New 2kW drive control unit supports smaller electric two-wheelers.
- Showcase of race eCBS, developed with Ducati, for improved braking on racetracks.
Bosch’s innovations at EICMA 2024 cater to a diverse range of motorcycles, including components for combustion engines, electric powertrains, advanced safety systems, and innovative connectivity solutions. Bosch continues its mission of developing motorcycle technology by focusing on safety, convenience, and sustainability. The company’s exhibit is located in hall 18, booth E66.
Safety Innovations for Motorcycles
Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) has been extended to more motorcycle segments. At EICMA 2024, Bosch introduced ABSi, an ABS system integrated with an inertial measurement unit, which reduces system complexity and eliminates the need for external components. This development facilitates the adoption of stability control across more bikes and segments.
Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) from Bosch include six new functions, such as adaptive cruise control (stop and go), group ride assist, riding distance assist, and emergency brake assist for front safety, as well as rear distance warning and rear collision warning for rear safety. The ARAS systems are being featured on the KTM 1390 SUPER ADVENTURE S EVO. These technologies are expected to significantly enhance riding safety and convenience.
In partnership with Ducati, Bosch is also presenting race eCBS, a new electronic combined braking system launched for the Panigale V4 S 7G. This system, based on Bosch’s ABS technology, synchronizes front and rear braking for better performance, providing optimal braking balance whether one or both brakes are used.
Efficiency Through Advanced Powertrain Solutions
Bosch’s ongoing advancements in electrification are making motorcycle riding more efficient. The new 2kW drive control unit integrates the inverter, engine management system, and vehicle control into a single component, enhancing compactness and efficiency for smaller electric motorcycles. This technology supports smoother start modes, cruise control, and increased safety via electric traction control.
The 2kW unit’s robust design, with vibration resistance and protection up to IP67, ensures that it can withstand various weather and road conditions, making it suitable for smaller electric vehicles in regions like India and Southeast Asia. Bosch’s in-hub drive solutions and vehicle control technologies further extend the company’s electrification efforts.
In addition, Bosch is working to improve the efficiency of current combustion technologies with new engine management systems designed to comply with future emission standards, such as Euro 5 and India’s BS 6. These technologies, including fuel blend compatibility and quickshift capabilities, enhance performance while minimizing environmental impact.
Digital Connectivity and Over-the-Air Updates
Bosch’s over-the-air updates and functions on demand provide motorcycle owners the ability to install new features after purchase. Advanced riding modes and additional convenience features can be easily added through the vehicle manufacturer’s app. Bosch’s existing TFT display technology supports the seamless integration of these connected features, offering clear readability even under direct sunlight.
At EICMA 2024, Bosch continues to bridge the gap between technological advancements and rider enjoyment, ensuring that their innovations cater to the evolving needs of motorcyclists globally.
