Bosch eBike Systems has introduced the ABS Pro, a cutting-edge solution designed to improve braking performance for eMountain bikers and enduro racers. This new system enhances rider stability, allowing for later and more powerful braking without the risk of front-wheel slippage. With two specialized modes, ABS Trail Pro and ABS Race, it caters to different riding styles and demands, making it ideal for both trail riders and professional racers. The ABS Pro system leverages advanced technology to optimize braking, reduce rider fatigue, and improve overall performance on challenging descents.
Key Highlights:
- Two braking modes: ABS Trail Pro for challenging trails and ABS Race for professional enduro riders.
- Enhanced rider control: Provides improved stability and braking precision across varied surfaces.
- Optimized for high-speed trails: Allows for later, more aggressive braking without losing control.
- Real-time performance tracking: Riders can monitor braking performance via the eBike Flow app.
- Increased safety: Reduces overbraking and allows for smoother descents, minimizing rider fatigue.
The ABS Pro system introduces more precise braking by reacting within milliseconds to changing surfaces, ensuring riders can handle both gravel roads and trails with ease. By modulating brake pressure, it delivers a natural feel during braking, even at higher speeds, extending what Bosch refers to as the rider’s “flow window.” This improvement allows mountain bikers to focus more on navigating the trail and less on managing braking, resulting in smoother, faster, and safer descents.
The ABS Pro is designed for high-performance downhill riding. It intervenes most strongly during the initial braking phase to stabilize the bike, and gradually reduces its input as braking progresses. This technology helps riders achieve maximum braking force, depending on tire grip and surface conditions. By minimizing braking errors, the ABS Pro refines a rider’s technique, enabling smoother and faster descents.
Two Specialized ABS Modes:
Bosch developed two distinct modes for the ABS Pro, drawing from their expertise in eMTB racing:
- ABS Trail Pro: Designed for technical trail riders, it provides stable, controlled braking on loose terrain. The system also features rear-wheel lift control, preventing the rear wheel from lifting during heavy braking on grippy surfaces.
- ABS Race: Tailored for expert enduro racers, this mode deactivates rear-wheel lift control, allowing riders to execute advanced maneuvers such as lifting the rear wheel during tight turns.
Riders can easily switch between these modes via the eBike Flow app or the bike’s display settings. The system also includes advanced data analysis, allowing riders to review their braking performance after a ride.
The Bosch eBike ABS Pro system, compatible with MT7 disc brakes from Magura and DH-R EVO brakes from TRP, is expected to be available by the end of 2024. Bosch continues to innovate, building on their legacy of creating the world’s first ABS for eBikes and providing groundbreaking technology that improves both safety and performance for eBike enthusiasts.
