Autocar, LLC is recalling 239 units of its 2025–2026 ACX (Xpeditor) trucks due to a software defect that may cause the Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS) to unexpectedly deactivate during vehicle turns, increasing the risk of a crash.
Highlights
- NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V746000
- Models Affected: 2025–2026 Autocar ACX (Xpeditor)
- Defect: AEBS may disable when the vehicle turns
- Remedy: Free software update beginning December 18, 2025
Details of the Recall
According to NHTSA Part 573 Safety Recall Report 25V746, the defect stems from a software error that disables the Automatic Emergency Braking System when the truck is turning. The AEBS fault indicator illuminates while the system is inactive and resets automatically once the vehicle’s wheels are straightened.
The issue was identified during internal inspections on August 25, 2025, when a unit exhibited the incorrect AEBS software behavior. Autocar immediately quarantined and reprogrammed all in-house vehicles, then launched a full investigation to determine the root cause. By October 23, 2025, Autocar management decided to conduct a voluntary safety recall after confirming the software error affected all units built within the March 27–August 24, 2025 production window.
Autocar reports no known field incidents, complaints, or claims related to this condition.
Remedy and Notification Plan
Autocar will update the AEBS software free of charge for affected vehicles. Owner notification letters are scheduled for mailing between December 18 and 19, 2025.
Customers who previously paid for repairs may seek reimbursement under Autocar’s General Reimbursement Plan filed with NHTSA. Owners can contact Autocar customer service at 1-888-218-3611 and reference recall number ACX-2506.
