Audi Recall for Wrong Brake Fluid Cap

HERNDON, Va. — Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. is recalling certain model-year 2021 Audi models which might have been equipped with a European brake fluid reservoir cap which does not meet United States regulations.

The recall population of 7,499 Audi vehicles includes S7, S6 Sedan, RS7, RS6 Avant, A6 Allroad, 2019-2021 A7, and A6 Sedan vehicles.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-601, the safety risk of the incorrect cap is, “If the incorrect cap is present and the owner does not understand the markings, it is possible that the incorrect fluid could be used in the reservoir. Incorrect fluid can make the brake system perform improperly, causing the risk of a crash.”

The remedy is simple: inspection by a technician at a certified Audi dealership and if the incorrect cap is discovered, it will be replaced with the correct one.

Franchised dealers and affected Audi owners are scheduled to be notified concerning the recall by Oct. 17, 2023.
