COVENTRY, U.K. – High performance brake and clutch system manufacturer, AP Racing, has partnered with BAC (Briggs Automotive Company) to develop the new generation of the BAC Mono supercar.

The leading motorsport and OEM component supplier is providing specialist brake calipers and discs, both of which come as standard on the lightweight single-seater.

The calipers used on the road-legal, high-performance vehicle are AP Racing’s forged aluminum PRO 5000 R design, part of its patented Radi-CAL™ range. The manufacturer is also supplying the brake discs fitted to the new car as standard.

“BAC came to us with the design ethos of optimizing its entire vehicle via each individual component and removing weight wherever possible,” said Matthew Dodd, key account manager at AP Racing. “This philosophy is something AP Racing has mastered over decades to its safety-critical parts. So, using our expertise, we provided BAC with a selection of lightweight, high-performance braking options – agreeing that the PRO 5000 R was the best choice for the all-new Mono.”

The calipers fitted to the supercar are a forged, two-piece aluminum design and feature an asymmetric concept alongside increased stiffness, resulting in optimal braking performance. The part is protected by its anodized finish, stainless steel pistons and wear plates and high temperature seals, ensuring product longevity in demanding circumstances.

The practicality of the PRO 5000 R caliper perfectly complements the wheel and disc sizes. Additionally, the braking component can be retrofitted on the previous-generation BAC Mono supercar, allowing for a completely adaptable set-up.

“AP Racing has had a longstanding relationship with BAC for many years now, and coupled with our expertise, this makes us the perfect partner for BAC’s latest project,” continued Dodd. “Our OEM performance pedigree is just as important to us as our racing heritage, that’s why customers like BAC, Bugatti and Lotus all trust us in delivering their high-performance requirements.”
