AP Racing reached its 1,000th Formula 1 Grand Prix as a component supplier at the Canadian Grand Prix on May 24, 2026, supplying brakes and clutches to eight of 11 teams.

AP Racing marked its 1,000th Formula 1 Grand Prix as a component supplier at the Canadian Grand Prix on May 24, 2026, capping a series run that began at the 1967 Dutch Grand Prix. The Coventry-based brake and clutch manufacturer, part of the Brembo Group, reports it has supplied components to more than 900 Grand Prix winners across that span. Its first F1 victory came with Jim Clark and Lotus at Zandvoort in 1967.

How Did AP Racing Reach 1,000 Grands Prix?

The milestone closes a span of nearly six decades that began with AP Racing’s first Formula 1 victory at Zandvoort in 1967, when Jim Clark drove a Lotus equipped with the company’s components to win the Dutch Grand Prix. The supplier has maintained continuous involvement at the championship’s highest level since then, with its calipers, master cylinders, clutches, discs, pads, pedal boxes, and air jacks running on cars across every generation of the series — from the naturally aspirated era through to the current hybrid power unit regulations.

According to AP Racing, vehicles running its brake and clutch systems have won more than 900 of the Grands Prix the company has supplied. Performance claims of that scale are company-reported and are tied to the supplier’s own count of race weekends.

2026 Grid Coverage

For the 2026 season, AP Racing reports it is supplying high-performance brake and clutch systems to eight of the 11 teams competing. The 2026 grid is operating under significant Formula 1 regulatory changes covering chassis dimensions, aerodynamic profiles, and powertrain configurations, all of which alter the thermal and mechanical demands placed on braking systems across the 24-race calendar.

AP Racing has not disclosed which specific teams are running its components for 2026.

Brembo Group Ownership and Product Range

David Hamblin, Managing Director of AP Racing, commented: “Reaching 1,000 Formula 1 Grands Prix is an incredibly proud moment for everyone at AP Racing. This milestone reflects the passion, expertise and relentless innovation that have defined our business for almost 60 years.

“Formula 1 is the ultimate test of engineering excellence. Every component must perform under extraordinary pressure and every detail matters. To have played a part in more than 900 Grand Prix victories and to continue supplying the majority of the 2026 grid is testament to the trust placed in AP Racing by the world’s most demanding race teams.”

The company, which operates as part of the Brembo Group, uses Formula 1 as a development platform for technologies that filter into its broader motorsport and high-performance road catalog. Its 2026 product line spans brake calipers, discs, pads, clutches, master cylinders, pedal boxes, and air jack systems.
