Akebono Expands EURO, Severe Duty Brake Pad Coverage

Akebono added six brake pad part numbers across its EURO and Severe Duty lines, expanding coverage for more than 8.6 million vehicles, including European luxury models, heavy-duty trucks, and EVs.

Akebono Brake Corporation has released six new brake pad part numbers across its EURO and Severe Duty lines, adding coverage for more than 8.6 million vehicles in operation across North America. The release includes four EURO Ultra-Premium Ceramic part numbers and two Severe Duty part numbers, extending fitment for European luxury models, heavy-duty trucks, commercial vans, and electric-vehicle applications. The new parts target technicians, distributors, and retailers, according to Akebono, and follow a series of similar expansions across the company’s U.S.-made aftermarket lines.

Highlights

  • Six new part numbers: four EURO Ultra-Premium Ceramic (EUR1801B, EUR1838B, EUR1850C, EUR2060) and two Severe Duty (SDF2250A, SDF2280B)
  • Combined coverage for more than 8.6 million vehicles in operation across North America
  • EURO additions span MINI, Jaguar, Land Rover, and multiple BMW lines, including the electric iX and i4
  • Severe Duty additions cover Chevrolet Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD, Hummer EV Pickup and SUV, and Ford Transit vans; SDF2250A adds an electronic wear sensor

The four EURO additions extend the company’s ceramic line further into European luxury fitments, while the two Severe Duty parts address heavy-duty trucks, commercial vans, and full-size EV pickups and SUVs. The full breakdown by part number and application:

The additions build on Akebono’s recent expansions of its Ultra-Premium ceramic lines, which have steadily widened late-model coverage across import and domestic platforms.

Hardware and Serviceability

Several of the new part numbers include stainless-steel hardware. The SDF2250A Severe Duty application adds an electronic wear sensor, which Akebono cites for serviceability on the full-size truck and EV platforms it covers.

About the EURO and Severe Duty Lines

Akebono says its EURO pads are engineered for low dust, reduced noise, and rotor protection, and to meet the requirements of European vehicle manufacturers. The company’s EURO line drew industry recognition recently, with its EURO Ultra-Premium Ceramic pads taking an Import Vehicle Community award. The Severe Duty line, by the company’s account, is designed for heavy-duty and fleet applications, with a focus on braking performance, durability, and service life.

Kirby Pruitt, Product Development Manager for Akebono Brake Corporation, framed the release as a response to customer demand. “Akebono continues to invest in expanding coverage where our customers need it most,” Pruitt said. “These latest additions provide distributors, retailers, and professional technicians with premium OE-quality braking solutions for a wide range of European luxury vehicles, electric vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, and commercial fleet applications.”
