Akebono Downsizing Global HQ; Moving to New Office

Akebono Brake Industry Co., Ltd. has announced the relocation of its Global Head Office in conjunction with the undergrounding of the Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway’s Nihonbashi section. The move, scheduled for November 5, 2024, is part of a broader effort to cut costs and adapt to changing work dynamics.

Key Highlights:

  • The current office in Nihonbashi will be vacated as part of an expressway undergrounding project.
  • The new office will be roughly one-quarter the size of the existing facility, significantly reducing costs.
  • Akebono aims to promote telecommuting and diversify working styles with the new, more efficient workspace.
  • The relocation supports SQDCE activities focusing on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Environment.

Akebono’s decision to relocate its head office comes as part of an urban development initiative in Tokyo’s Nihonbashi district, specifically the plan to place a 1.8-kilometer section of the Metropolitan Expressway underground. The new office, located at PMO Nihonbashi Muromachi, will be smaller but will also allow Akebono to focus on enhancing flexibility and cost-effectiveness. With the reduced office space, Akebono aims to further promote remote work capabilities and improve operational efficiency.

The new address for Akebono’s Global Head Office is PMO Nihonbashi Muromachi 5F, 1-13-7 Nihonbashi Muromachi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 103-8534, Japan. The updated contact details are TEL: 03-5299-7621 and FAX: 03-5299-7630.

In line with Akebono’s ongoing commitment to SQDCE—a set of initiatives to enhance Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Environment—the relocation also aims to foster improvements within the company’s indirect divisions by leveraging a smaller, more sustainable office setting. This move reflects Akebono‘s dedication to adapting its operations for efficiency and cost savings while continuing to support the well-being of its employees.
