ADVIK, a prominent automotive product manufacturer, has successfully acquired Powersports MTG GmbH, a German company specializing in advanced motorcycle braking and clutch systems. This acquisition reinforces ADVIK’s position as a leading global supplier of advanced braking systems and aligns with its strategic growth goals. By integrating Powersports’ expertise and technology, ADVIK is poised to deliver next-generation braking solutions to a broader market.

Key Highlights:

  • Heritage of Excellence: Powersports MTG GmbH, a spin-off of MAGURA, has been a trusted name in brake and clutch systems for motorcycles since 1893.
  • Cutting-Edge Technology: The acquisition adds innovative products like radial master cylinders, axial master cylinders, and advanced calipers to ADVIK’s portfolio.
  • Strategic Execution: The deal was facilitated through ADVIK’s Singapore subsidiary, with Powersports reporting €30 million in revenue in 2024.
  • R&D Capabilities: ADVIK gains manufacturing and research capabilities in Germany, supported by Powersports’ 60+ patents.
  • Global Expansion: ADVIK aims to bring advanced hydraulic braking and clutch systems to new markets worldwide.

Powersports MTG GmbH, based in Bad Urach, Germany, was originally a division of Gustav Magenwirth GmbH & Co. KG (MAGURA). Its legacy in high-quality mechanical and hydraulic systems spans over a century, making it a prized addition to ADVIK’s operations. Powersports’ product line, including floating and fixed calipers and radial master cylinders, enhances braking performance and control across diverse riding conditions, from everyday roads to high-performance racing environments.

Aditya Bhartia, Managing Director of ADVIK Group, emphasized the strategic value of this acquisition, stating:

“This acquisition of the two-wheeler braking system of MAGURA, with a rich history of more than 100 years, not only brings advanced technology for hydraulic braking and clutch systems to a larger part of the world, it also adds manufacturing and research and development capabilities in Germany. With 60 plus patents, this acquisition is very strategic to ADVIK to get access to hydraulic braking and clutch technology.”

Fabian Auch, Managing Partner of MAGENWIRTH Technologies GmbH, expressed confidence in the transition:

“I am excited to hand over this company to ADVIK, a group who has the prowess to further grow the two-wheeler braking systems business. I am sure the Powersports business has found its righteous place, where it will thrive and grow.”

With this acquisition, ADVIK is set to bolster its product innovation and extend its footprint in the two-wheeler and high-performance motorcycle markets, further establishing its leadership in the industry.
