Wilwood Engineering has launched a new series of big brake kits for the 1989–98 Nissan 240SX. The kits cover both the S13 (1989–94) and S14 (1995–98) chassis generations. These platforms remain popular among tuners and the drifting community due to their lightweight construction and balanced handling.
Highlights
- Two front rotor sizes — 12.88-inch and 14.00-inch — paired with six-piston forged aluminum calipers provide scalable stopping power for street and track use.
- Rear kits include an external MC4 mechanical parking brake, which requires a separate Wilwood cable kit and an aftermarket non-hoop style RUCA.
- BP-10 and BP-20 pad compounds are matched to SRP drilled/slotted and GTB slotted rotors for street performance or higher-friction track applications.
- Full OE system compatibility with the factory ABS, electronic controls, and master cylinder ensures a straightforward upgrade path.
Front Caliper Choices
Owners can select from two forged aluminum six-piston front calipers. The Superlite FNSL6R offers exceptional strength with reduced weight. Meanwhile, the Aerolite AERO6 adds a stiffened center bridge for greater rigidity under heavy braking loads.
Both units feature modern FEA body designs. This engineering approach improves resistance to caliper deflection and enhances pedal feel. Front rotors are available in 12.88-inch and 14.00-inch diameters, each 1.25 inches wide with 48 curved internal vanes.
Rear Brake and Parking Brake Setup
The rear axle uses Wilwood’s Superlite FNSL4R four-piston caliper. It is bias-matched to the front calipers for proper brake balance. Rear rotors measure 13.50 inches by 0.81 inches wide and feature 36 vanes for thermal management.
However, 240SX rear kits differ from other Nissan fitments in one key area. They include an external MC4 mechanical parking brake caliper. As a result, installation requires two additional components:
- Wilwood MC4 Parking Brake Cable Kit (sold separately by chassis)
- P/N 330-18324 — Nissan 240SX, 1989–94 (S13)
- P/N 330-18325 — Nissan 240SX, 1995–98 (S14)
- Aftermarket non-hoop style RUCA (rear upper control arm)
Rotor and Pad Specifications
Wilwood offers two rotor surface treatments across all 240SX kits. GTB slotted rotors are paired with BP-20 pads, delivering higher friction for autocross and track day events. SRP drilled and slotted rotors ship with BP-10 pads for smooth, consistent street performance with extended wear life.
All rotors use performance-grade iron alloy with black E-coat protection as standard. Other pad compounds are also available for specific performance requirements.
