Dynamic Friction Company is proud of its position as a supplier of ultra-premium brake components, a very appropriate title bestowed upon the Cerritos, Calif. company by the brake aftermarket, according to Dan Biezonsky, DFC’s Executive Vice President – Sales.
And the company’s growth and success within this niche is based on quality and customer service, as well as a broad product range, he added.
“There is a space in the market between premium aftermarket products and aftermarket OE- (original equipment) branded products, and there’s a big price gap between them,” he said in an extensive interview with The BRAKE Report Magazine. “And when you get into something that’s OE branded, like Advics or Akebono, OE suppliers that also have an aftermarket line, there is a big price jump. There’s also a lot of fragmentation; you can’t get full coverage with one brand in OE; it’s usually short programs that are fragmented.
“So, there’s that space we ended up organically filling where we’re very much at the level of an OE-type product with the price of a premium aftermarket [one]. I don’t believe anybody else is there. The market really gave us that, more than we tried to position ourselves there.
“Customers started calling us ultra-premium, so they recognized our products work but they are not as expensive as an OE product, yet it they perform just like an OE product.”
Biezonsky believes DFC has the widest coverage range within the ultra-premium category, another example of customer service.
“When a customer calls looking for a part, we most likely have it,” he said. “I’ll tell you how wide our coverage is: we even have products for a McLaren SLR in stock and there were only 1,927 of these vehicles produced!
