Toyota Issues Recall For Brake Booster Pump

WASHINGTON DC–A Toyota brake booster pump recall has been issued for nearly 7,200 of the following vehicles in the U.S. and Canada to replace the pumps and keep vital systems working.

  • 2019 Toyota Prius
  • 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid
  • 2019-2020 Toyota Prius Prime
  • 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid
  • 2019 Lexus UX 250h
  • 2019 Lexus ES 300h
  • 2019 Lexus LC 500
  • 2019 Lexus LS 500/500h

The brake booster pump may stop working because it wasn’t properly manufactured, causing a loss of braking assist, increased stopping distances and deactivated stability control, in addition to “other vehicle features” that may be lost. Toyota didn’t say what those “other vehicle features” are.

A driver will also notice multiple warning lights, warning messages and audible chimes if the brake booster pump fails.
