TMD has confirmed 2019 dates for their popular Brake Training classes. The classes are different from brake maintenance trainings that are offered and necessary for maintaining equipment.
The TMD version starts with friction raw materials and discusses the art and science of combining them, as well as the interactions between them. Next, raw materials are combined to manufacture disc pads and drum linings. Effects on brake performance of various raw materials are reviewed. Three designs of foundation brakes: wedge, cam and disc, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each, are discussed. After foundation brakes, vehicle air systems complete the training from raw materials to truck systems. There will be demonstrations, as well as interesting questions and discussions.
The class is useful for anyone in the industry, both OE and aftermarket, wanting to increase their knowledge of friction for commercial vehicles.
2019 training dates are April 17, July 17 and October 2. Contact John Thompson ([email protected]) if you are interested in attending. The all-day training is free and includes training materials.
