Textar Expands Brake Pad Range for Heavy-Duty Vehicles

Textar becomes the first independent aftermarket supplier offering brake pads for Ford Transit Custom, Bronco, Ranger, VW Amarok, and Porsche Macan heavy-duty applications.

TMD Friction’s premium Textar brand has introduced brake pads for six heavy-duty vehicle applications, becoming the first independent aftermarket supplier to offer replacement friction materials for these high-demand platforms.

Highlights

  • First-to-market aftermarket brake pads for Ford Transit Custom, Tourneo Custom, Bronco, Ranger, VW Amarok, and Porsche Macan
  • Model-specific friction formulations engineered for high thermal and mechanical stress conditions
  • Application range spans commercial vans, off-road trucks, and performance SUVs with above-average braking demands

Heavy Vehicle Applications Require Specialized Friction Materials

Vehicles such as commercial vans, pickup trucks, off-roaders, and performance SUVs generate significantly higher braking loads than standard passenger cars. These platforms frequently operate under demanding conditions including heavy payloads, trailer towing, off-road use, and high-performance driving.

The increased mass and operational demands place exceptional thermal and mechanical stress on brake systems, requiring friction materials specifically engineered for each application.

“For heavy, powerful vehicles, we advise automotive professionals to pay particular attention to quality when selecting replacement parts,” said Scott Irwin, Head of Technical Training at TMD Friction. “As the heart of the brake system, the brake pads in such models must meet the highest standards.”

Technical Specifications and Features

The new Textar brake pads incorporate several performance characteristics:

  • Model-specific friction materials delivering OE-quality braking performance
  • High temperature resistance maintaining consistent performance under heavy loads
  • Optimized pedal feel providing consistent braking force
  • Durable friction compound engineered for demanding application profiles
  • NVH optimization meeting current noise, vibration, and harshness standards
  • Improved emissions characteristics
