Knorr-Bremse, WESP Team Up for Digital Solutions

Knorr-Bremse and WESP have partnered to create innovative digital tools for the commercial vehicle industry. This collaboration combines Knorr-Bremse’s expertise in vehicle systems with WESP’s digital service know-how. Their first project, unveiled at Automechanika 2024, is a workshop benchmarking system designed to boost efficiency and sales for commercial vehicle workshops. The partnership aims to deliver data-driven solutions, enhancing aftermarket services and supporting industry trends like digitalization.

Key Highlights:

  • Workshop Benchmarking System: The initial joint project, previewed in Frankfurt, helps workshops analyze performance and optimize operations using a tailored dashboard.
  • Pilot Testing: Selected workshops in the Netherlands and Germany will test and refine the system, ensuring practical, real-world benefits.
  • Strategic Growth: Knorr-Bremse aims to evolve into a service provider, leveraging WESP’s digital expertise to expand its aftermarket offerings.

This collaboration marks a significant step for both companies. Knorr-Bremse, a global leader in braking systems, brings 120 years of industry experience and a strong presence in over 30 countries. WESP, a Dutch innovator, specializes in digital tools that unlock insights from garage management software. Together, they’re tackling the growing demand for smart, efficient solutions in the commercial vehicle sector.

Alexander Wagner, Vice President Global Aftermarket/TruckServices at Knorr-Bremse, emphasized the partnership’s potential: “Our partnership with WESP will enable us to offer data-driven consulting services to commercial vehicle workshops that will help to directly improve their efficiency.” Meanwhile, Bas Wintjes, WESP’s Managing Director, highlighted the value of data: “Garage companies have a wealth of data in their own garage management software. With Knorr Bremse’s market knowledge, we can combine the key performance indicators of the truck & trailer world with the dashboards of WESP.”

The workshop benchmarking system uses anonymized data to let workshops compare performance and make informed decisions. This aligns with Knorr-Bremse’s broader strategy to lead in connected, sustainable solutions for transportation. With annual revenues of €7.9 billion in 2024, the company is well-positioned to drive this initiative forward, promising more digital innovations with WESP in the future.
