Knorr-Bremse has announced the sale of its subsidiary, GT Emissions Systems, to Rcapital Partners, a UK-based private equity fund. GT Emissions Systems, located in Peterlee, UK, is a prominent supplier of emission control systems for diesel engines in both on-highway commercial and off-highway vehicles. The deal is expected to finalize in the fourth quarter. This strategic move aligns with Knorr-Bremse’s goal to optimize its portfolio and enhance its core competencies.

GT Emissions Systems specializes in the global Engine Air portfolio, which includes exhaust throttle and exhaust gas recirculation valves. The company supplies emission control systems to major manufacturers, helping diesel engines meet international emission standards. In 2023, GT Emissions Systems reported sales of about €70 million.
Bernd Spies, a member of the Knorr-Bremse AG Executive Board and responsible for the Commercial Vehicle Systems division, stated: “For us, the sale of our GT Emissions Systems subsidiary represents the next critical progression in the optimization of our truck division’s portfolio. In future, we are going to concentrate even more strongly on our core competencies. In Rcapital Partners, we have found a buyer for GT Emissions Systems capable of excellently developing and fully leveraging the company’s potential.”
The sale of GT Emissions Systems is the third successful divestment by Knorr-Bremse this year under its BOOST 2026 (Knorr-Bremse Operational Optimization Strategy and Transformation) program. This initiative involves multiple strategic measures aimed at ensuring sustainable and profitable growth for the company.
