Honda Pilot Earns Top IIHS Award

The 2025 Honda Pilot, a midsize SUV, has been awarded the prestigious TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This recognition is a testament to the vehicle’s exceptional safety features and performance in various crash tests.

Key Highlights:

  • 2025 Honda Pilot receives TOP SAFETY PICK+ award
  • Good ratings in small overlap front and updated side tests
  • Acceptable rating in the updated moderate overlap front test
  • Standard front crash prevention system with good pedestrian test rating
  • Good-rated headlights across all trim levels

To achieve the 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, vehicles must earn good ratings in the small overlap front and updated side tests and a good or acceptable rating in the updated moderate overlap front test. Additionally, the vehicle must have an acceptable or good rating in the pedestrian front crash prevention evaluation and acceptable- or good-rated headlights across all trim levels.

The Honda Pilot secured an acceptable rating in the updated moderate overlap front test, which is the key factor distinguishing the higher-tier TOP SAFETY PICK+ from the lower-tier TOP SAFETY PICK award. Starting with the 2025 model year, Honda made modifications to the Pilot’s rear seat belts to enhance protection for second-row passengers, the focus of the updated test.

In the test, the rear dummy’s lap belt moved from the ideal position on the pelvis to the abdomen, increasing the risk of abdominal injuries. However, the shoulder belt did not exert undue force on the dummy’s chest, and measurements taken from the rear dummy indicated no elevated risk of injury otherwise. The level of protection provided for the driver was excellent.

All trims of the Pilot come with a standard front crash prevention system that earns a good rating in the pedestrian test, along with good-rated headlights.

The 2025 Honda Pilot’s outstanding performance in these stringent safety tests underscores its commitment to passenger safety, making it a top choice for safety-conscious consumers.
