Brook Built Racing ended its 2026 season with a Classic 350 class win, two second-place finishes, and one third-place finish in four races on its Honda CB350K4 at the British Historic Racing Club (BHR) final round at Cadwell Park. In a race report published by EBC Brakes this week, Russell Brook described a weekend of changing track conditions and the short-circuit debut of the team’s newly acquired Kawasaki ZXR400. According to the company, the team runs EBC Brakes Racing XC-Series discs and GPFAX sintered race pads on its race bikes.

Honda CB350K4: From Recovery Drive to Class Win
Brook started Race 1 from a poor qualifying position and reached fourth in class on the opening lap. He then passed Joe Taylor on the line to take third.
Race 2 had been postponed from Saturday and ran on a damp track that dried after overnight rain. It was the team’s first race in those conditions on a classic bike, and wet tires and tire warmers were not permitted.
“The standard tyres performed extremely well, providing good feedback as the circuit dried,” Brook said.
The Honda led the class early but finished second after Taylor passed for the class lead. In Race 3, back on a dry track, Brook led the 350cc class until Paul Wood got by.
“We remained at the head of the 350cc class until Paul Wood produced an excellent pass at Mansfield,” Brook said. The team set the fastest lap of the race, but Wood kept his lead to the flag.
In Race 4, Brook latched onto a couple of faster 500cc machines from the start. “Their pace helped us establish a gap over the rest of the 350cc field, and we successfully maintained the class lead to the chequered flag,” he said. Wood finished second and Phil Hogan third.
Kawasaki ZXR400 Begins Its Development Program
The ZXR400 raced on a mixed grid. The field included 400cc machines, 650cc twins, 750cc multi-cylinder bikes, 800cc air-cooled machinery, open singles, 1000cc twins, and superbikes and Supersport bikes of the era. The bike was not fueling correctly, so the team used the weekend for development and made improvements throughout the meeting.
“The class victory in Race 2 was particularly encouraging for a bike at the beginning of its development programme,” Brook said.
“The objective now is to address the fuelling issues, further develop the Kawasaki and return in 2027 with a much better understanding of the machine and its potential.”
Brook Built Racing’s 2026 Season
Before Cadwell Park, the team raced in the NLR 750km Endurance Race (about 466 miles) at Donington Park, the Barry Sheene Classic at Oliver’s Mount, and the Isle of Man’s Classic TT. The Honda carried the team’s Classic 350 campaign, and the ZXR400 now gives it a development project for 2027.
“The season has provided an enormous amount of experience, both on the circuit and behind the scenes, and has given the team a strong platform from which to continue developing,” Brook said.
