Continental Expands India Facility Making ABS and ESC

With increasing awareness and acceptance of safety technologies, India is emerging as a focus market for ABS, ESC and Electronic Brake Systems, for both passenger cars and two-wheelers. Recognising the business potential, safety component suppliers are expanding manufacturing capacity.

Technology company Continental today inaugurated two new lines for ABS and ESC assembly at its plant in Gurgaon. This capacity increase is to address the market requirements stemming from government of India legislations for ABS entry in April 2019 for passenger cars and two-wheelers. Continental, as is known, as an overriding goal of ‘Vision Zero’ – a future with zero accidents.

Continental has been steadily investing in India to localise ABS/ESC. In 2016, Continental set up a line for ABS assembly, in addition to ESC systems, in Gurgaon, followed in 2018 by a new line in its Bangalore plant, for production and assembly of Electronic Control Units (ECU) for two-wheeler and passenger car ABS and ESC.
